Swanson 2018 Napa Cabernet Sauvignon
Red Wine
|
2018
A wine this exquisite can only come from a very enchanting winery. Swanson Vineyards, located just off of Hwy. 29 between Yountville and St. Helena, specializes in small-lot wines, in this case, less than 1,000 cases.
Made from Cabernet Sauvignon (94%) and Merlot (6%), this Swanson Cab underwent natural malolactic fermentation and then spent 18 months in new and 1-year-old oak barrels. Rated 93 points by WineAlign.com, noted critic David Lawrason says of Swanson Cabernet ”It captures the essence of the style with ripe blackcurrant/plummy fruit, some herbal/minty character, nicely honed vanillin and some pepper."
As expected from a wine of this quality, it's rich and full-bodied with massive flavours and the velvety tannins linger, giving longevity to the palate.
The 2018 vintage can be summed up as a “Classic” Napa Valley vintage and definitely one to follow closely.
