Rioja Vega Reserva

Red Wine

After carefully selecting the Tempranillo, Mazuelo and Graciano grapes, the fermentation was for 10 days, with skin contact maceration for 20 days. The wine underwent malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Aged for 2 years in American oak barrels with 5% aged in French oak, followed by 12 months of bottle ageing prior to release.

Rated 90 points by Spain's Benchmark review Guia Penin, the 2017 Rioja Vega Reserva shows deep red cherry colour with intense aromas of ripe fruit, toast, toffee and spices that follow through on the palate. Balanced with velvety tannins and excellent length.

Before there was a Rioja there was Rioja Vega. Founder Felipe Ugalde had a dream. He wanted to use the knowledge which he had learned from the French winemakers that visited his land at the end of the 19th Century to make unique, innovative, high quality wines. A place where he could make his own vision of Rioja wines by combining the region’s traditional methods coupled with the French techniques. What resulted was wines made with care for the vineyard and the environment. Founded in 1882, Rioja Vega was one of four wineries who pre-dated Spain's most celebrated wine region.
