Duca di Saragnano Toscana Rosso Governo
Red Wine

2020
The last time Azureau released Duca di Saragnano Toscana Rosso Governo into the market, we saw 125 cases sell out in less than 3 hours. Made in the 300-year-old Governo style (like Amarone from nearby Veneto), this Sangiovese Cabernet Super Tuscan rewards the curious with bold black fruit notes and an enduring finish.
"Duca di Saragnano" is the flagship brand of the company Barbanera, representing a wide range of wines from different regions of Italy. It is named after the brave warrior Duke de Saragnano, who fought with the Saracens for the freedom of Southern Italy. The Duke is an ancestor of the Barbanera family - Luigi Barbanera.
"Governo" Rosso Toscano is a blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet and Merlot according to the ancient Tuscan method "Governo", in which, after the first fermentation, dried grapes are added. As a result, this wine has a strong dark fruit character, an impenetrable colour, an intense aroma and a rich but gentle taste profile.
Rated 98 points by celebrated Italian wine critic Luca Maroni.
