Winemaker Vision

Estate-grown fruit, hand-selected, and estate-bottled wines. 360-degree integration from our vineyards to the bottle to the marketplace, with no outsourcing, results in an outstanding quality/price ratio. Voted best Italian co-operative winery in 2019, 2020, and 2021 at Berliner Wine Trophy, Cantina Tollo is proud of its numerous environmental initiatives, to preserve its vineyards for generations to come.

Terroir

Our vineyards extend over an area of about 7,400 acres, of which 780 acres are organic. From the coastal hills to the slopes of the Maiella (+9,000ft), in a typically Mediterranean climate, which is temperate with notable temperature fluctuations due to the presence of the Maiella massif. This gives optimal conditions for the build-up of aromatic compounds, producing high-quality grapes. Our production exclusively focuses on typical and indigenous grape varieties of the region, cultivated in the traditional method of pergolas, with a pursuit of experimentation both in the field and in the cellar.

About

Established in 1960, during an exciting period for winemaking which brought the Abruzzo region to life. At the time, people were abandoning the Abruzzo countryside and many Italians were leaving the country in search of a better future. Vineyards worked as a magnet, allowing people to remain and paving the way for the foundation of the winery. During those years, Cantina Tollo played a key role in the sector, helping radically change the local grape-growing and wine-making techniques. Today, Cantina Tollo is one of the most important and established businesses in the Italian wine industry.
