Salentein Portillo Pinot Noir
Red Wine
|
2020
A purple plum colour with an elegant aroma of fresh ripe cherries, strawberries and blackberries. The Salentein Portillo Pinot Noir palate is filled with red cherry and strawberry flavours. Soft tannins and a round finish of light spice notes make this a very versatile and delicious wine.
The Toronto Star writes of the 2020 Portillo Pinot Noir "This wine offers shockingly good value. It gleams pale ruby in the glass and opens with seductive aromas of wild blackberries, fresh figs and forest floor. Then, it slips in with silky-sheer flavours that echo the aromas while bright acidity lifts each sip to make it taste lamplit — just bright enough. A soft sifting of chalk leaves the palate nicely seasoned too. Dry. Elegant. Delicate and delicious. Score: 94"
Situated on a high plateau in the Uco Valley of Argentina's Mendoza region, Portillo (meaning "path" or "gateway") produces quality wines for everyday enjoyment. Hand-harvested then transferred to stainless steel tanks for a cold maceration, followed by a 7–10 day fermentation.
