Domaine Coudoulis Evidence, Lirac
Red Wine
|
2019
The vineyards of Domaine Coudoulis are located in the Lirac appellation in the Rhône Valley. Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre grapes were hand-picked on the steep slopes of the vineyards. The wine was fermented in concrete vats for 8 months in new French oak barrels.
Wine Enthusiast writes, "This is a big, powerhouse wine packed with rich, ripe blackberry and plum flavors. An unoaked blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre, it's decadently fruity but intently mineral, too, etched by bristling strikes of stone and earth. Hedonistic already but should hold through 2025." 91 points.
Intense garnet colour with a jammy red fruit aroma. Fresh strawberry flavours intermingle with gentle spice notes to bring a nice richness to the wine. Fine spices of pepper linger on the finish and the silky tannins reveal a unique character to this 2016 vintage.
Best enjoyed by decanting for at least 30 minutes.
