Winery Profile: Thokozani
Thokozani means "a celebration" and it is in this spirit that this wine brand was launched in 2006. As part of the Government of South Africa’s Black Economic Empowerment initiatives, Thokozani has training and development as its central and crucial focus. The business operations are in partnership with Diemersfontein - by using the existing infrastructure and part of its staff contingent, but will be structured in such a way as to allow and encourage development outside of the Estate after an appropriate consolidation period. Think of it as "a business within a business, but free to fly". | | The Portfolio: Thokozani 2007 Chenin Viognier: A crisp white blend of Semillon, Chenin Blanc and Viognier On the nose, gun flint and lime gradually give way to more honeyed characters contributing to complexity. The lingering acidity together with the medium weight mouth feel ensuring the lasting balance .
Thokozani 2006 Shiraz Mouvedre: Strawberry jam red currant extract with undertones of cinnamon, sweet spice and toffee apple. The mouth feel is sweet and inviting, balancing the fruit and sweetness of the ripe subtle tannins.
