Introducing: The Blue Sky Wine Advisor
Azureau is thrilled to introduce its newsletter, The Blue Sky Wine Advisor. In every edition, readers will learn something about a new wine region, get some tips on "hot buys" and maybe have a giggle or two. Give it a try!
Region Feature: Israel, New Wines, Old Culture
The latest discovery of the wine world, Israel, has been making wine for centuries. Profiled by Robert Parker, Wine Spectator and just last month, Canada's own Wine Access (here's the article), Israel is coming on strong as a serious player on the world wine stage. Azureau is proud to represent some of the most awarded and enjoyed wineries coming from Israel.
- Clos De Gat: Commended by Robert Parker, Tony Aspler and Wine Spectator with several wines rated 90+, this boutique winery near the foothills of Jersusalem is crafting some incredible Syrahs, Cabs, Chardonnays, and its unique, highly armomatic Chanson blend.
- Galil Mountain: With three wines recently noted as top values from Israel by Wine Spectator, Galil Mountain is turning heads throughout North America. Vancouver Magazine recently named Galil's Chardonnay and Yiron as top wines in the BCLDB. This is a winery to watch!
- Amphorae: Located in the Carmel region, this winery's Med.Red series has been noted by Wine Access as one of Israel's best. With a distinctly Mediterranean taste profile, Amphorae (the word for an ancient Roman wine vessel) is going on feature at some of Ontario's top restaurants.
Wine Feature: Diemersfontein Chocolate-Coffee Pinotage
Soon after Diemersfontein Country Estate introduced its Pinotage it quickly became a cult wine. Named Best in Class at the London International Wine & Spirits Competition in 2008 and "The People's Pinotage" four years in a row by Neil Pendock of the South Africa Times, this wine shows extraordinary notes of coffee and chocolate unlike any you've ever tasted.
